While the site is undergoing some construction, there is still much to see! Be sure to visit their website to see which sites will be open during your visit.

Make sure to stop by Barrington Plantation, the home of Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas. Experience daily life as it was in the 19th century, complete with costumed interpreters and working farm animals.

Day Two: Historic Downtown Brenham & Museums

Start your morning at the Brenham & Washington County Visitor Center, where you can pick up a History Brochure to guide you through Downtown Brenham's historic sites.

Just across the street, Glissmann’s Gift Gallery & Historic Drug Store is a charming shop that preserves the feel of an old-fashioned apothecary. Browse unique gifts, vintage-inspired finds, and historic memorabilia while admiring the beautifully restored historic interior.

Just steps away, Belle’s Alley tells the powerful, untold stories of the Freedom Colonies established in Washington County between 1865 and 1930 by formerly enslaved individuals.
