The Brenham Heritage Museum Presents: “The Fairytale Project”

The Brenham Heritage Museum is excited to host Nia’s Daughter Movement Collective for a special performance titled “The Fairytale Project” on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 105 S Market St, Brenham, TX 77833.
“The Fairytale Project” is a historically inspired tale for families of a modern-day African American family reconnecting with their East Texas roots with peculiar encounters with the past.

Based on the love story of Jim and Winnie Shankle, founders of the Texas Freedom Colony, Shankleville, their descendants reconnect with what’s most important in life: family, faith, love, and legacy.
This event is free to attend and will take place from 11 am to 1 pm at the museum, followed by an artist talk and reception with Stacey Allen, Artistic Director and Storyteller of Nia’s Daughter Movement Collective.

Texas Needs Your Vote! Delegate Election Day

On February 1st, 1836, an election was held Texas wide to elect delegates to attend the Convention of 1836 at Washington. The men elected to this convention would declare independence from Mexico and write the Constitution for the Republic of Texas. Join us as we recreate the election that happened in Washington Municipality. After learning about the candidates, cast your vote, and place it in our ballot box. The votes will be tallied at the end of the day and posted on our Facebook page to compare to the actual election results. The Trip to Bountiful

Unity Theatre presents “The Trip to Bountiful”, a drama by Horton Foote playing on the Main Stage February 6 – 23, 2025.

This moving drama follows the journey of Carrie Watts who yearns to escape the cramped Houston apartment where she lives with her son, Ludie, and domineering daughter-in-law, Jessie Mae. She longs to return, one last time, to her hometown of Bountiful, Texas. With Ludie and Jessie Mae in hot pursuit she manages to evade them only to discover that her beloved Bountiful is no longer the same as she remembered it. This American classic is a touching play about the profound idea of ‘home’ and what that really means to us.

Showtimes are Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm.
