‘Juneteenth: Freedom’s Jubilee’ Exhibit at Brenham Heritage Museum

Washington County has celebrated Juneteenth in grand style since the 1870s. This year, visitors can discover Juneteenth’s timeless traditions by viewing the Brenham Heritage Museum’s latest exhibit—“Juneteenth: Freedom’s Jubilee.” By combining photographs, newspaper articles, and Juneteenth memorabilia, the exhibit focuses on the celebratory elements of Juneteenth, including parades, coronations, horse races, contests, and sporting events. Guests will have an opportunity to view intricate Juneteenth gowns, vintage mantles, and trains from past royalty. On display through June and July in the Blue Bell Gallery, this exhibit is available to members and visitors during regular Museum hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm, at 105 S Market Street in Brenham. Groups of 10 or more can call the museum at 979-830-8445 to schedule specific times for tours. In addition, community members are encouraged to contact the museum if they have Juneteenth memorabilia that can be showcased for future exhibits.
