Before Freedom Came

Soon we’ll celebrate Juneteenth, when 250,000 women, men, and children would see freedom come to Texas! But before freedom came, enslaved women and men, like Mary, Jerry, Willis, Jake, Lucy, and Charity, would labor on plantations like Barrington, sunrise to sunset – and even later – producing income and maintaining the planter’s home. Join us for a weekend of reflection on the various tasks of the enslaved on a plantation and learn more about the actual enslaved individuals we have recorded at Barrington. Contact us at BarringtonPlantation@thc.texas.gov or 936-878-2214 x248 for more information.

Whiskey Wednesday at Brown Water Cigar Bar

Every Wednesday, join Brown Water Cigar Bar for weekly cigar and whiskey (Brown Water) pairings and specials. Enjoy national premium cigars from a walk-in humidor with bourbon, scotch, rum, Irish whiskey and wine flights.

Hoppy Hour Wednesday at Brazos Valley Brewing Company

Join us for $1 off pours, including beer, wine, cider, seltzers, mimosas and flights, every Wednesday from 3 to 9 PM. BVB Eats Food Truck is open from 4-9 PM. We’ll also have Brewery Bites of Loaded Nachos, our famous giant Pretzels, Chips n’ Beer Cheese Queso, and Stout Cheesecake! We have indoor and outdoor seating, playground for the kiddos, and dogs welcome outside on a leash. Cheers!
