Farmer Thrifty & Squire Slipshod

According to one 1850s farming periodical, “Farmer Thrifty” kept a neat and well-maintained farm, while “Squire Slipshod” allowed his barn, tools, and fences to fall into filth and disrepair. Dr. Jones noted in his journal on August 5, 1847, that the enslaved “Cleaned up Barn & Stables.” – following the model of “Farmer Thrifty”. The last 4 Saturdays in July are made for Hot Nights, Cool Tunes! Bring your lawn chair to the Courthouse Square in Downtown Brenham and enjoy some great live music with the community! There will also be food and beverage vendors available throughout the event and a Classic Car Cruise-in by the Stray Katz Car Club. This event is free to the public and begins at 7:00 pm! On Saturday, July 22nd, there will be a live music performance by “Shekere.”
