Nov 29: Twilight Firelight

Holiday Time is Family Time at Fanthorp Inn State Historic Site in Anderson, Texas. Fanthorp celebrates the holiday season with a journey back to the 1850’s on the evening of Saturday November 29th, 2014. The old stagecoach Inn will be open for a special Twilight Firelight holiday event. Visitors will enjoy the ambiance of the candle lit Inn, period music, stagecoach rides, and a host of living history characters.

So take a break from the hectic holiday pace and re-focus on your family and friends at Fanthorp Inn’s Twilight Firelight celebration!




Dec 5: Christmas Stroll & Lighted Parade

Parade starts at 6pm at Main & Market in Downtown Brenham; Stroll 6-9pm

Enjoy live entertainment and holiday shopping as you stroll along the beautifully lighted downtown streets of Brenham. The lighted parade is sure to put everyone in the Christmas spirit!

Dec 4-21: Unity Theatre presents "Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings"

Filled with Christmas standards, the boys are back to do their Christmas Special in this sequel to Forever Plaid. Francis, Jinx, Smudge and Sparky aren’t sure why they’ve returned to Earth for another posthumous performance, but a phone call from the heavenly Rosemary Clooney lets them know that they’re needed to put a little harmony into a discordant world. Sprinkled among the Christmas offerings are riotous versions of ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks and The Vienna Boys Choir, and a Plaid Caribbean Christmas!


Dec 6: Houston Chamber Ringers Christmas Concert

The premier handbell choir rings in the Christmas Season in the Festival Concert Hall. Join us for the Festival Hill Open House in the Menke House Dining Hall after the concert.




Dec 6: Christmas Fayre


Downtown Chappell Hill, TX
Welcome in the festive season of Christmas in historic Downtown Chappell Hill, TX. Shopping, dining, teddy bear parade, visit with Santa, caroling, nativity scenes, train rides, downtown lighting and live reindeer! Activities are timed throughout the afternoon. Free admission, free parking, free fun!




Dec 7: Christmas at the Depot & Country Homes Tour


507 N Railroad Street, Burton, TX

The Sarah Circle of St. John's United Church of Christ will be having their annual Christmas Country Homes Tour in conjunction with the Burton Heritage Society on Sunday, December 7th. The event will kick-off at 11am at the historic Burton Railroad Depot where the Heritage Society will serve Railroad Stew, Conductor Chili and Passenger Potato Soup from 11am to 1pm. Cost of the meal is $8 for adults, $5 for kids 6-12, and children under the age of 6 are free.

From 1 pm to 5 pm the homes will be open and the cost of the home tour is $10 for adults and children under 12 are free. All proceeds go to maintain the Burton Depot and Mt. Zion Historical Chapel and to help needy needy families in the Burton area.

Home tour tickets are available from any Sarah Circle member or at the Depot on the day of the tour. You pay for your food at the door. Help support the Lake Loons Annual Christmas Toy Run by bringing an unwrapped children's gift and dropping it off at the Depot.




Dec 7: An Advent Celebration

Join us at the Historic Independence Baptist Church On Sunday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. for a musical program, "O Come, Emmanuel: An Advent Celebration." Under the Direction of Mr. Carlos Colon Spiritual Life, Baylor University and Artist in Residence at the Armstrong Browning Library. Instrumental and Choral Performances Sponsored by The Baylor University Libraries and The Texas Collection.

Dec 9: Christmas Bazaar


Brenham Country Club, Hwy 105 East, Brenham, TX

Vendors will line the banquet room with merchandise of all sorts! Come get all your shopping done in one place! Funky Art Cafe will be on site with delicious lunch offerings. Full stocked bar will also be open with a tasty hot chocolate station where you can create your own Christmas concoction! Entry is free, but donations are welcome (benefiting Animal Friends of Washington County).

December 13: Christmas on the Brazos


Washington on the Brazos, FM 1155, Washington, TX

Start the holiday season by spending the day at Washington on the Brazos SHS. From 10 am to 8 pm, modern and historic activities will be staggered throughout the park. Independence Hall will host 19th century readings from some of our favorite Christmas literature at 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm & 3 pm.


The Star of the Republic Museum will host period crafts in the Discovery room from 11 am to 3 pm.


Music and merriment will surround you in the Visitor Center from 2 pm to 6 pm as merchandise made by Texas artisans is featured in the Washington Emporium gift shop and local Texas fare is available for sampling and tasting. Take advantage of a self-serve photo opportunity with Santa who will have miniature horses standing in as his reindeer.


At 5 pm, activities will begin to shift from the Visitor Center to Barrington Living History Farm for the evening event, Candlelight Christmas, which will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm. The farm will be open from noon until 4 pm for standard tours then will reopen at 5 pm for the Candlelight Christmas event with ticket sales ending at 8 pm. Space is limited so reservations are strongly recommended. Standard site admission fees apply.


The Candlelight Christmas event will feature timed vignettes or glimpses into 1850s festivities through a candlelit tour of Barrington Farm. The event will include live 19th century music and dancing, bonfires and Christmas readings, 1850s Santa Claus, musket firing, cookies and hot cider. Please allow at least one hour to complete the full experience. Groups will enter the site at timed intervals.






Dec 13: Nutcracker Ballet - SOLD OUT!


Round Top Festival Institute, 248 Jaster Way, Round Top, TX
The Legendary Ballet Danced by Children for Children of All Ages! Ovation Ballet Company presents for the 7th time at Festival Hill the legendary Nutcracker Ballet.

Round Top Festival Institute also offers two opportunities to visit "The Kingdom of Sweets" at the Menke House. Both gatherings are by reservation only. The ticket price for each "Sweets" event is $15.00 per person. The first gathering of the Kingdom of Sweets is slated for 2:00 PM, when you can enjoy Christmassy cookies and drinks before the ballet. Immediately following the ballet, performers will join guests for a second opportunity to revel in holiday treats.

Dec 13: Christmas at Winedale


Winedale Historical Complex, 3738 FM 2714, Round Top
A mid-19th century folk life reenactment with folk life demonstrations including stagecoach rides, hay rides, mini horse carriages, spinners, weavers, wood carvers, quilters, blacksmith, encampment, outdoor cooking, butter churning, period music, square dancing, storytellers, crafts for children. Historic Houses will be decorated as they would have been in those times. Food available for donation.




Dec 14: Blinn College presents, "Baldknobbers Jamboree"


Brenham High School
Blinn College invites you to "Deck the Halls" this holiday season with The Baldknobbers, a Branson favorite for more than 55 years! Along with the country music and side-splitting comedy that has made them famous for decades, they will also be performing their traditional Christmas show that will bring yuletide fun tot he entire family!

The party begins at 7:30 pm with delectable appetizers, sparkling beverages and festive company in the Menke House Parlors, followed by a scrumptious dinner at 8:00 pm. After dinner, dance away 2013 on the Festival Concert Hall stage with The Jackie Myers Band, whose original compositions are influenced by jazz, blues, funk and pop music.

Welcome in 2014 with a complimentary glass of champagne, sparklers, ringing bells, fireworks (conditions permitting) and an invigorating sing-along of Auld Lang Syne. A cash bar will be serving fine wine and beer.

Don’t feel like driving home after the party? Rest easy in one of our cozy rooms for an additional fee, which includes New Year’s morning coffee, juice and yummy pastries in the Menke House Dining Hall.
